BIO internal deadlines towards the RCN deadline:    September 7th

 

Aug 8:                 Notify the department of your “intent to apply” – email: sjoukje.kuipers@uib.no

Aug 10:               Open and share your e-application with BIO’s administrator. Please use email address: synnove.myhre@uib.no

Aug 15-24:         Preparation of your draft budget with BIO administration. Budgets must be prepared in accordance with TDI budgeting model – email: thomas.hugoy@uib.no

Aug 24-31:         Finalization of budget and formalities (including partner projects) will take place continuously

Aug 31:               Completion of final budget – thomas.hugoy@uib.no

Sep 7:                  NFR submission deadline

Please respect the internal BIO deadlines for proposal submission. Should you need an extension for any of the above, please notify Sjoukje and/or Thomas.

Featured news – Week 34

Small fish may play big role in Africa

Fast-breeding fish may be an important tool in the fight against malnourishment in the poorest parts of the world, a UN report concludes. Professor of Biology, Jeppe Kolding, is lead author of the study. Read more here.

This has been an issue on the Norwegian radio program NRK Ekko (P2) Tuesday this week. Listen to the program here (starts at 58m18s).

SMÅFISK MED STORT POTENSIALE: Betre utnytting av fiske i tørre regionar kan få mykje å seie i land sør for Sahara. Professor Jeppe Kolding er førsteforfattar på ein FN-rapport som konkluderer med at ein bør satse på fisk i tillegg til landbruk.

Finishing exam/thesis defense

Master exam- Ole Høstmark: In vitro screening of Neoparamoeba perurans for environmental stressors and potential functional feed ingredients

Ole Høstmark will on Wednesday 31st of August have the final presentation of his master thesis in fish health.

Sindre Nordlund Vatnehol  has his disputation for the Ph.D. degree: “Increasing the biomass estimation accuracy of a single school of fish using a cylindrical multi-beam fishery sonar”
